CAMPUS

Saint John’s Seminary is located in Brighton, Massachusetts. It is accessible from Commonwealth Avenue and is a short drive from exit 17 on the Massachusetts Turnpike. It is also easily accessible by public transportation, either by subway or various bus routes. The proximity of Saint John’s to major routes of transportation makes it easy for many guests to visit the seminary, and also for seminarians to travel out to various locations for their pastoral assignments. Though it is located in the city, the seminary is surrounded by green space, and Gallagher Memorial Park is located down the street from Saint John’s Seminary. This setting provides a welcome space for walking and meditation.

Directions to main campus:
Saint John’s Seminary’s main campus sits at 127 Lake Street. Lake is a one-way street, and our location on Lake is accessible only from Commonwealth Avenue at the Newton/Brighton town line. We are the second driveway on the right, about 1/4 mile from Commonwealth Avenue.

Public Transportation:
We are also easily accessible by public transportation. The MBTA Green Line (B train) serves the Boston College stop, at the corner of Lake Street and Commonwealth Avenue. We are a short walk down Lake Street (1/4 mile).

Lay Formation:
The Theological Institute is located at 149 Washington Street in Brighton (the former St. Gabriel’s school), approximately 1.5 miles away from Saint John’s Seminary. It is up the hill from St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, on Washington Street between Cambridge St. and Commonwealth Avenue. Parking and the entrance are available behind the building. The site is also accessible by the Green Line’s B train or the 65 or 57 buses.

Our Lady of the Presentation Lecture Hall:
In 2013, Saint John’s Seminary acquired a third campus. The former Our Lady of the Presentation Church, having been closed for many years, has now been revitalized and is in the process of becoming the Our Lady of the Presentation Lecture Hall, for lectures and demonstrations by the Saint John’s Seminary community and other archdiocesan-sponsored events. It is located at 680 Washington Street in Brighton’s Oak Square neighborhood, and there is a large parking lot a few doors down which is for the exclusive use of the property.
