Are you a priest or a seminarian? Then you are invited to join us for one or several of the weeks of our SUMMER INSTITUTE FOR PRIESTS AND SEMINARIANS at Saint John’s Seminary in Boston. Each Study Week consists of three days and nine hours of lectures.

WEEK ONE Tuesday, May 23 – Thursday, May 25
An Introduction to Western Liturgical Art with Msgr. Moroney.
This historical overview of the origins and development of art in churches of the Roman Rite will lead to an intensive examination of the Church’s teaching, legislation and practice in the renovation and restoration of sacred space as seen through the lens of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ guidelines: Built of Living Stones.

The Priest at Mass with Msgr. Moroney, Father Conn, Msgr. Caron and Msgr. Johnson.
A review for priests and seminarians of the skills required for effective priestly celebration of the Sacred Liturgy, with particular attention to the principles and practice of the Roman Missal.

Theological Update with Fr. Cessario, Fr. Connors, Fr. Pignato.
Updates on current issues in Moral, Fundamental and Spiritual Theology, with a particular emphasis on their application in parish ministry today.

Update on Bible and Canon Law with Fr. Briody, Dr. Fahrig and Fr. Conn.
Updates on current issues in the study of Sacred Scripture and Canon Law, with a particular emphasis on their application in parish ministry today.

Parish Administration
A review of principles and practices needed for effective parish administration, developed in cooperation with the (Arch)dioceses of Boston, Worcester, Springfield, Fall River, Manchester, Burlington, Portland, Hartford and Rochester.
Monday – Best Practices in Parish Finances
Tuesday – Best Practices in Maintaining Parish Facilities
Wednesday – Best Practices in Parish Human Resources

WEEK SIX Tuesday, August 8 – Thursday, August 10
Religious Education
A review of current trends and practices in religious education, with a particular emphasis on their application in parish ministry today. Presented by members of the New England Conference of Diocesan Directors of Religious Education.
