Deacon House

Deacon House, formerly known as the Our Lady of the Presentation Rectory, has been recently renovated to accommodate the growing needs of Saint John’s Seminary. A transitional living arrangement for our fourth-year Deacons, its residents live side-by-side with a faculty member and return daily to the main Seminary community for classes, prayer, and meals. This Rectory style of living will better prepare the men for parish life as they take their final steps toward the priesthood during this last year of formation.

Deacon House features ten bedrooms, two faculty suites, a number of common living spaces, and is completed by a beautiful chapel. The heart of the building, it is adorned by a hand-carved crucifix done by a master carver in Ortesei, Italy and a stunning eighteen-foot wide original apse painting by Rohn & Associates Custom Studio, depicting the Blessed Virgin and Saint John adoring the Cross alongside the Deacon-Saints Stephen, Francis, Lawrence, and Philip.  The wooden altar is complemented by an antique wooden ambo and newly reupholstered chairs recycled from an older church in Pennsylvania.

Naming opportunities are available for seminarian rooms, common spaces, and many chapel elements.

Deacon House is located on the Our Lady of the Presentation campus, next to the OLP Lecture Hall, at 676 Washington Street in Brighton’s Oak Square. A large parking lot is located a few doors further up the hill on the same side of the street (710-724 Washington Street).
