The goal of this course is to provide students with the minimum language skills they require for effective ministry in francophone Catholic communities. The course will include opportunities for hearing spoken French, engaging in simple French conversations as well as reciting some shorter liturgical rites in the French language. The course will include at least one visit to a pastoral setting where French is used. This fusion of both classroom and practical usage will provide a more meaningful and beneficial experience to seminarians, as they prepare to serve the Church following Ordination. This course earns 1 credit per semester on a high pass/pass/fail basis. Prerequisite: At least 2 years of previous study of French in high school or college.
