Philosophy

Students will gain familiarity with ancient philosophy, focusing upon the Platonic and Aristotelian traditions. They will learn how to read philosophical texts on a deep level and engage with them in speech and writing. Through doing so, they will gain a clearer grasp of the following: how the ancients laid the groundwork for perennial philosophy (exemplified by the Scholastics and their intellectual disciples), the antecedents to modern errors that are found in the ancients, and Christianity’s early self-understanding of its relationship to philosophy.
