Saint John's Seminary

The annual Rev. Charles Von Euw Lecture promotes the intellectual and pastoral life of Saint John’s Seminary through presentations by distinguished scholars on topics in philosophy, theology, pastoral practice, and evangelization. Sponsored by the Rev. Charles Von Euw Lecture Fund, this event honors the legacy of Rev. Charles Von Euw (†1969), a priest of the Archdiocese of Boston who served on the Seminary faculty from 1959 until his death in 1969. A scholar of Patristics with a doctorate from the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome, Fr. Von Euw accompanied Cardinal Richard Cushing to the Second Vatican Council, serving as his official theologian (peritus).

This year, Saint John’s Seminary is honored to welcome Dr. Scott Hahn, Founder and President of the St. Paul Center and Scanlan Professor of Biblical Theology and the New Evangelization at Franciscan University of Steubenville. A renowned theologian, speaker, and author, Dr. Hahn has written or edited more than forty books, including Rome Sweet Home, The Lamb’s Supper, Hail Holy Queen, and The Fourth Cup.

In this year’s lecture, titled “John’s Temple Christology,” Dr. Hahn will explore the rich theological and scriptural dimensions of the Temple in the Gospel of John.

Join us for an evening of theological reflection and renewal as we continue the tradition of intellectual and spiritual engagement begun by Rev. Charles Von Euw.
